I've been feeling a little crafty lately and really trying to use up supplies and items from my stash as I am overloaded with "stuff". These paperweights are some of the creations that I finished this week:
They started out as something you've probably seen a gazillion times at thrift stores...
Yep, glass votive candle holders! I look for ones that are as clear as possible (some are super clear and others have lots of bubbles or are "cloudy" which makes it hard to see your items inside). I also pass on the ones with lots of wax in them, too much work for me to remove it. Also, keep in mind that any smudges/dust you leave behind will be encased forever so be sure to really check them before you glue!
Along with a pile of the votive holders, I gathered old book pages, bingo cards, paper punches, and various vintage trinkets and played around with combinations.
I glued the book pages with a glue stick onto both sides of cardboard and then cut circles the same size as the large end of the votive holder with my circle cutter:
I glued the paper punches and trinkets to the cut out circles and let them dry overnight. I used a glue stick for the paper punches and E6000 for the trinkets:
To bring some of the trinkets closer up for a better view, I used wooden buttons underneath:
