What do You Collect?

I love finding and admiring vintage treasures but I don't actually collect many specific things for myself.   As a vintage seller and repurpose artist, I am able to enjoy my finds while they sit in my studio/shop/home and then happily sell them to someone who just can't live without that particular treasure...definitely a win-win for me! 

However, as someone who has a deep passion for anything to do with gardening/flowers, I do have a  harder time letting go of vintage gardening items. This little collection of flower frogs has been with me for a long time and I actually use a lot of them in my floral arrangements...

The wire thing on the left below is actually a vintage gutter cap (so I've been told) but I use it to hold flowers in several of my vases...

the copper one below the ceramic frog is a recent find and I think it is actually for a drain but I'm not sure, it looks like it might make a great frog in the right vase...

and this little guy is so adorable, he just makes me smile...

My Amaryllis

I've had this amaryllis for a few years now and I just had to share it since it's in full bloom and so pretty! Every fall I stick it in the garage in a dark corner and (literally) forget about it...and amazingly this is what I get every spring!

 I usually stumble upon it when looking for something else and think "oh yeah, my amaryllis". When I notice it starting to get some green, I put it in a window inside and start watering it. I know a lot of people make them bloom for Christmas but I never have, mine just seems destined to bloom in April!

Vintage Mousetrap Memo/Key Holder

Remember this little Vintage Mousetrap I found?

 

I had a little project in mind when I bought it. So I took this tray that I already had...

 then I punched out a scallop circle from a vintage sheet music cover, and added a #3 stamp...

 punched a hole on each side of the tray with a hammer and nail...

 glued the mousetrap and circle punch onto the tray (I just used a glue stick for the circle punch and E6000 for the mousetrap) then bent the end of the piece of wire into a hook...

added some twine for a hanger (I originally tried wire but didn't like the look of it)

and here is what I ended up with...

Past White Creations/Blissful Whites Wednesday

This morning I was so thrilled to find that my White Daffodils post was featured on Blissful Whites Wednesday...Thank you so much to Becky at Timewashed! 

It's been fun looking back at all my past projects and vintage finds as I tackle the task of organizing and watermarking my photos.

So in keeping with the White Wednesday theme, I decided to post some of my past "white" creations. Some of these are sold Etsy or booth items, some are just things I've made for gifts or for myself...

Rusty Finds

Here are some of my latest finds...rusted and weathered to perfection! One good thing about working with "junk" is it can often be extremely cheap or even free (yes I see you nodding your head there). Anyone else love the free box at garage sales? I usually go there first and almost always find at least one treasure in there!

I have some specific projects in mind for some of the items, and others I have no idea what I'm going to do with them, but I just know someday it will hit me and I'll be glad I brought it home with me!! 

I do have a project in mind for this vintage mouse trap...

White Daffodils

Today I am so grateful to whoever planted these all white daffodils in my backyard many years ago before I moved here. They did all the work and I just get to enjoy them every spring! There are two flowers on every stem and they have the most wonderful scent; nicer than regular daffodils, but not as strong as paperwhites.
